Individual & Family Therapy
I collaborate with the client to build a trusting, non-judgmental, and honest therapeutic relationship. I provide a safe environment to explore the behaviors, feelings, and thoughts contributing to the presenting problem. I believe the therapeutic environment is a catalyst for change. Individuals and families may seek treatment to build better connections or constructive communication; others seek therapy to better understand themselves. It may also be that you are seeking a warm environment to grieve the loss of a loved one or seeking tools to assist in coping with anxiety or depression. I approach treatment from systemic perspective; that is, I consider how problems are affecting one’s relationships, employment, and self-worth. I am trained in a wide range of therapeutic approaches including: cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, the Satir model, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and neurofeedback. I am passionate about my work and always have the client's best interest at heart!
Couples Therapy
Couples often struggle with feeling “heard” by their partner or feeling unappreciated. Many couples come into therapy as a last resort to salvage a relationship. Know that any relationship can be strengthened. In my experience I have learned that couples are often wanting closeness but are unable recognize and/or communicate this message in a healthy way. The goal of couple’s therapy is to practice identifying when your emotional needs are being met, when your needs are not being met, and how we can work to change unhealthy patterns. Whether your relationship has been experiencing turmoil for many years or just a couple of weeks, know that we can effectively create a strong lasting bond. Consider couple’s therapy to be an investment in your relationship future.
Grief Counseling
Grief counseling focuses on the behavioral, emotional, and cognitive effects of a loss. Grief can be attributed to many events such as the loss of relationship, a family with a special needs child, caring for an elder, or a miscarriage. Everyone grieves in their own way and on their own time. No one way of grieving is better than any other. Some people are more emotional and dive into their feelings; others are stoic and may seek distraction from dwelling on the loss. Know that grief is a natural and healthy process. In my experience, one of the many challenges associated with grief is adjusting to the new reality of living, which often requires envisioning an altered future and adopting a new sense of identity. I work with clients to better understand the complexity of grief, work through the pain, obtain a deeper level of peace, and continuing connections to those who have passed.

Trauma Counseling
Trauma can occur when an individual experiences a perceived threat to their life. Any unexpected experience from natural disaster, war, sexual assault, or domestic violence can lead to the need for trauma counseling. The affects of trauma can include: hyperarousal, avoidance, and intrusive thoughts. My treatment involves acknowledging and processing trauma-related memories while releasing any pent up 'fight-or-flight' energy. Clients will learn how to regulate strong emotions and gain the ability to trust again, which is essential. One of the evidence-based therapeutic theories I utilize is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which is effective in reducing trauma symptoms. CBT assists clients in altering their thought processing patterns and behavioral responses. If desired by the client, treatment can be paired with neurofeedback sessions. I believe the key to effective trauma counseling is collaborating with you to find a treatment that works best.

Adolescent & Teen Counseling
Adolescents and teen years can be a trying time for parents and children. During these stages, adolescents and teens are often faced with new challenging pressures and may respond in an unhealthy way. Some struggles are a normal part of life such as dealing with peer groups, experimenting with new ideas, and changes in identity and interests. However, issues that often require the assistance of counseling can include: changes in family life, substance abuse, risky sexual behavior, rebellion, bullying, or the loss of a friend or family member. Parents often find, despite their best efforts, they are unable to provide their children with the necessary help. My supportive therapy techniques will help parents and children reconnect, create healthier coping, and overcome these challenging years. Know that change is possible and with my assistance your children will reach their potential.
Neurofeedback
During times of stress and anxiety our brain can often cause problematic symptoms. A way in which I alleviate these symptoms is by training the brain to function at its optimal level by utilizing neurofeedback. Neurofeedback, also called EEG Biofeedback, is a process that helps the brain to self-regulate through the use of video games and audio feedback. During each session the computer software measures your brain activity, which helps me to determine how to proceed to obtain optimal results. This treatment can improve individuals with symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, eating disorders, migraines, and mental and/or behavioral disturbances.
